DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA (Sept. 16, 2013) -- Metropolitan Police Chief of the District of Columbia Cathy Lanier brief's the national press corps about the latest on the shooting at the Washington Navy Yard. 13 people including the assailant were killed that started on Monday morning after the shooter fired inside the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters building around 8:15 a.m. A host of law enforcement agencies from the Metropolitan Police Department, the Military Police and others assisted with the response. There was a "shelter in place" order while law enforcement agencies entered the building to confront the shooter who was eventually killed. Photo by Johnny Bivera
