About Visual Media One

Visual Media One is a documentary and commercial multimedia production company owned by Johnny Bivera, a photojournalist with over 20 years experience in visual communication and one who has captured images worldwide from everyday life to the hostilities of war.  He was an official videographer to the President of the United States Bill Clinton and executive photographer to Chairman of the Joint Chief's of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen. Bivera has covered combat and humanitarian missions, to maritime operations during the Bosnia/Herzegovina conflict, the Israeli-Jordan Peace Treaty, Turkey's tragic earthquake and operational missions into Afghanistan after 911.

He has seen some of the world's most remote places and witnessed some of life's historical moments.  A talented and versatile photographer, his work has appeared in major newspapers, magazines and video documentaries and was profiled on PBS's Jim Lehrer NewsHour, C-SPAN's American Journal and NFL Films 'American Postcards'. His imagery has been published in numerous books and has worked on projects for publishers Harper Collins and the National Geographic Society.


He provides support for a variety of clients in covering news, events, and portraiture and is a key member of the Legion Photo Agency.  He stays busy working on educational programs for photographers and the creation of a non-profit scholarship program for high school students pursuing career fields in media communication, a curriculum of global endeavor entitled 'Our Visual Planet'.


Apart from taking on the recent role of National Press Photographers Association Department of Defense Liaison, he was past president of the National Association of Naval Photography and founder of the Shoot Off Visual Media Workshop program.  He is an education committee member of the White House News Photographers Association, the American Society of Media Photographers, Editorial Photographers and past Black Team member of the Eddie Adams Workshop.
